Drake family photoHello! My name is Paul Drake. I am a Child Neurology resident in my third year of training. I am a native and life-long Arkansan, having been born in Little Rock. I am incredibly proud to call this place my home, as Arkansas has so many wonderful things to offer. I attended the University of Arkansas for undergraduate and then returned to UAMS in Little Rock for medical school. I am married to a beautiful woman named Courtney and we have recently welcomed a new baby girl into the world, Charlie!

Drake at Football gameWhat interests me about Neurology is both the intricacy and the simplicity of the diseases. While there is still much that we do not currently know about how the brain functions and responds to change, the beautiful part about Neurology is that from talking to patients and performing a thorough exam, the signs and symptoms can point to a very specific part of the neurological system. I first became interested in neurology when my sister, Mary, was involved in a car accident, suffering a traumatic brain injury. I am interested in all the subsets of the field, but headache medicine, TBIs and concussions are my primary source of interest.

When I am not at work, you can usually find me at home or at a ball game, whether it be basketball, football or just about anything. I am an avid supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks (Woo Pig!) and the Kansas City Chiefs. I also love coaching basketball, and have been involved in coaching youth basketball for the past 8 years, through various schools and organizations.

Drake and wifeI am extremely excited to be a part of the UAMS Neurology family and can’t wait to get started!
