Yu-Ting Chen, MD
I am from Kaohsiung, the biggest city in southern Taiwan. I spent almost my entire life in Kaohsiung, including seven years of medical school and one-year postgraduate medical training. I love my hometown, but I knew it was time to step outside of my comfort zone. Since I had a very positive US neurology exchange clerkship experience in the past, I decided to come back to the States to do the neurology residency.
It is not easy to start over in a new system, but I am so lucky to have this opportunity to start my new journey at UAMS. The staff here is very helpful and the attending physicians and residents have great enthusiasm in teaching. I really enjoy the excellent work atmosphere at UAMS.
I love Little Rock. While living here you can enjoy the convenience of the city and the beauty of nature at the same time. There are rivers and state parks just nearby. I enjoy biking along the river and climbing Pinnacle Mountain. In the future I plan to learn kayaking. Besides outdoor activities, I am also learning cooking in my free time.
I am fascinated by different sub-specialties of medicine, but neurology is my favorite. As I just started my residency, it is still too early to tell what fellowship I am going to pursue in the future. I will keep learning and see which field I enjoy the most.
