Achint Patel, MD

I grew up in a city called Ahmedabad which is known for its “Sabarmati Ashram”- and was Mahatma Gandhi’s former home. Mahatma Gandhi, father of the Indian nation, led the independence movement of India. During my early days in medical school I became fascinated with learning how the nervous system receives millions of bits of information, integrates it and determines responses made by our body. Along with clinical aspects, my interest in understanding disease associations and causations led me to pursue my Masters in Public Health (MPH) at the Icahn School of Medicine, New York. This program gave me a completely new insight into clinical research, making me realize that research and practice of medicine are essentially intertwined.

I lived in New York City for the past three years and moving to Little Rock was a complete change for me. Little Rock is a very nice place to settle down for a person who has always enjoyed spending spare time in nature and outdoor activities as I do. I have already fallen in love with this city and its people.
UAMS provides outstanding clinical training, excellent clinical supervision and phenomenal teaching. I especially like the mutual trust and friendship among residents here. All I can say is that UAMS is a great place to complete a Neurology Residency. I am very excited to be here and I look forward to attaining my goals of becoming an accomplished neurologist and, above all, a strong advocate for my patients.
