Clerkship and Acting Internship
The UAMS Clerkship in Adult Neurology is designed to give M3 students a sampling of the scope of neurologic practice.
At UAMS, the students will spend one week with the inpatient stroke service, one week with the inpatient general service, and one week in the outpatient clinic. If students have any particular interest (such as MS, ALS, epilepsy, or Neuro ICU), we will be happy to customize the rotation to accommodate. On their rotation, students will have the opportunity to view and participate in experiences with lumbar puncture, botulinum toxin injection, EEG, EMG, and Telestroke via the Arkansas Saves program.
At the VA, students spend three weeks on the mixed inpatient and consults service, and they see patients in dedicated clinics (average of 1.5 clinics a week). Interested students at the VA will also have the opportunity to view and participate in experiences with lumbar puncture, botulinum toxin injection, EEG, and EMG.

An M4 Acting Internship in Neurology is also encouraged, and the rotation is customizable to meet the student’s particular interests in Neurology. Please contact Brian Behrle for more information regarding AIs.
